Jets over Anatolia
AE 2013-2, this year's only multinational exercise out of three "Anatolian Eagle"
planned for 2013, was held between 10 and 21 June 2013 at Konya. With a
attendance of 540 Turkish and 525 foreign military personnel, as well as 54 aircraft
from Turkey (27 F-16C/D, 8 F-4E 2020, 1 KC-135R, 1 C-130, 1 Casa CN-235), Saudi
Arabia (8 F-15C/D), the United Arab Emirates (6 F-16E) and NATO (2 E-3A Sentry)
the participation was somewhat less in comparison to the previous year, especially
since the Oman had cancelled his participation at short notice.
The main objectives of the exercise were characterized in advance in a few relatively
simple rules and the principles were summarized by Maj. Gen. Yilmaz Özkaya
Commander of 3rd Ana Jet Üs since August 2011, as follows: "Our experiences to
share here, will help us in future cooperation."
